I took these pictures just before I left Boston Grammar School in July 2009.

The School was chartered by Queen Elizabeth 1st in 1555 although there is evidence of a church school existing from around 1350.

Sadly not all UK schools look like this. nor perhaps will this survive much longer the intent is to knock it down and build a modern bigger school in it's place some time over the next 5 to 10 years. Personally I can't help but see this as a retrograde step.

I once applied for a job at Boston Grammar School as a teaching assistant about 15 years ago (I didn't get it). I got a interview with a tour though and it looked like a nice place.

I went to school here which has a very similar history to BGS.
On two occasions I have been asked, "Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?" I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.
